I watch a lot of TV because I’m intellectually lazy and I drink a lot. Those two things put together equal an intense fascination with television. I’m even thinking of buying a new one, so if you have any advice on a good 42 inch LCD TV for around $1000 or less, let me know. I’m rather cheap also.
Since I swore up and down I’d start blogging more, I’m going to let you in on what I’m enjoying right now, with a tidbit about why I enjoy it.
1. Mad Men
Roger Sterling has to be my favorite character. He may have just made a pretty dubious move (don’t make relationship decisions while you’re on a bender), but he’s been a part of some of my favorite moments of the show. Especially enjoyable is his visit back to Sterling/Cooper after his coronary when he’s alone with Joan, and we all think he’s going to say something nice, and he says, “You are the finest piece of ass I ever had, and I don’t care who knows it.” What an asshole, but I love it.
2. Gossip Girl
Yep, and I’m not ashamed to admit it. Okay, since I have to say I’m not ashamed to admit it probably means I’m a little ashamed. I don’t like it quite as much as the best moments of “The O.C.” (as a dude, Seth Cohen and Ryan Atwood hit a little closer to home than Serena van der Woodsen and Blair Waldorf), it provides that guilty rush you get from watching young beautiful people debauch themselves. It’s all about Chuck Bass.
3. It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia
Alright, this season hasn’t been quite as good as some of the others, but Sunny always delivers. There always needs to be at least one good show with a good cast of misanthropic scoundrels that we can’t help but root for. Especially love when they found a dumpster baby and instead of giving him a real name, called him “D.B.” Brilliant.
4. Entourage
Ari Gold, Ari Gold, Ari Gold. If not for him, this show would not be on the air and nobody would care about it. When Ari goes into one of his tirades, it’s a great show. The rest can get a little tedious, but at least there’s usually an a smattering of nudity to keep things going.
5. 30 Rock
Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin are god damned funny together. The show is quick and well written. If you only see one moment, check out Alec Baldwin pretending to be a black dad from Philadelphia. Too funny for words.
